Robotic 3D Printing. Made Practical. Up and Running Same Day.

The new MDAC1 Gen2 was developed with ABB Robotics to make robotic 3D printing easier to adopt, more productive, affordable, and simpler to expand. By optimizing both the hardware platform and user experience, we created a robotic additive manufacturing solution that removes many of the traditional barriers to entry.

Instead of spending months integrating components, configuring robotics, and managing custom engineering projects, you are up and printing same day. You can focus on designing, learning, prototyping, and producing repeatable parts. Faster deployment, simplified operation, and a lower total system cost help accelerate your return on investment from day one.

More Capability. Less Complexity.

The MDAC1 Gen2 combines the advantages of our collaborative robots with the simplicity of a fully integrated, turnkey 3D printing platform.

Move to Bigger Parts
Move beyond desktop-sized limitations with build volumes up to 1m², enabling larger prototypes, tooling, molds, fixtures, and functional parts.

Enjoy Smarter Motion
The ABB six-axis robot provides greater freedom than three-axis systems, enabling advanced toolpaths, multi-planar printing for advanced part features, and reduced support structures.

Get Faster Adoption
The hardware, software, and workflow have already been integrated and optimized, reducing setup time and shortening the path from installation to production.

Depend on its Reliability
Built around ABB’s proven collaborative robotics platform and Massive Dimension’s additive manufacturing expertise, the MDAC1 delivers dependable performance backed by industry-leading support.

Start Printing Faster. With Confidence.

Many robotic additive manufacturing systems begin with a robot and develop into a custom engineering project.

The MDAC1 Gen2 avoids that your additive manufacturing systems  develop into a custom engineering project.

Our MDAC1 platform is delivered as a complete, commissioned and integrated solution designed specifically for additive manufacturing. The engineering work has already been done. The workflows have already been validated. The software has already been configured for you.

This means less time spent integrating technology and more time creating value.

Whether you are launching an additive manufacturing program, expanding a makerspace, developing research capabilities, or exploring production applications, the MDAC1 provides a practical path into industrial robotic manufacturing.

Material compatibility

The MDAC1-GoFa is compatible with any 1.75mm or 2.5mm filament. The 500°C hotend rating supports a wide range of engineering-grade materials including PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PC, Nylon, TPU, and high-performance composites.

Slicing software (sold separately)

If you’re coming from a desktop or prosumer 3D printer, you’re used to slicing software being free or bundled, like Bambu Slicer, PrusaSlicer, Cura. Industrial robotic additive manufacturing works differently. The MDAC1 requires a dedicated robotic slicing platform to generate toolpaths, and that software is licensed separately directly from the software provider.

Robotic slicing software handles 6-axis motion planning, collision avoidance, non-planar toolpath generation, and direct robot programming. That capability doesn’t come bundled because we prefer to give our customers the freedom to choose the software platform that best fits them. Of course, we'd happy to advise you on the benefits of different software options.

The MDAC1 is compatible with the following platforms, all available directly from Massive Dimension:

Adaxis AdaOne
A locally installed robotic slicing platform with native ABB code output, full simulation, and support for non-planar and multi-axis toolpaths. Available as an annual seat license from Massive Dimension.

Aibuild CAM
An AI-powered LFAM software platform purpose-built for robotic and gantry-based additive manufacturing. Handles toolpath generation for polymer extrusion across planar, non-planar, and multi-axis strategies, with built-in process analytics and cloud access. Trusted by manufacturers including Ford and Boeing.

ABB RobotStudio 3D Printing PowerPac
ABB’s own offline programming and simulation environment with a dedicated additive manufacturing module. Translates standard G-code into ABB robot commands automatically. Available as an annual license from Massive Dimension.

Frequently asked questions

Can I really buy this online?
Yes. The MDAC1 Gen2 is available for direct purchase. After checkout, our team contacts you within one business day to confirm lead time and coordinate delivery and installation. You are not buying a box that ships the next day, you are placing an order for a turn-key system that our team will commission and support.

What is the lead time?
Lead times vary based on component availability and your location. Our team will confirm current lead time within one business day of your order. If lead time is longer than two weeks at the time of your order, we will specify that clearly before confirming.

Is installation included?
Yes. Turn-key commissioning and operator onboarding by the Massive Dimension team is included in the $49,995 price. We coordinate delivery, system setup before shipment, and initial unboxing. Training is available from Massive Dimension and your selected software partner.

Where does Massive Dimension ship?
We ship worldwide on Delivered at Place (DAP) terms. Massive Dimension arranges and prepays freight to your specified delivery location and invoices payment prior to shipment. You are responsible for import duties, taxes, and customs clearance upon arrival.

How is the MDAC1 Gen2 different from previous MDAC1 systems?
The MDAC1 Gen2 was developed in direct collaboration with ABB Robotics as a purpose-optimized configuration for additive manufacturing. The result is a leaner bill of materials, faster deployment, and a publicly listed price — all without removing capability from the platform.

Can I order with a pellet extruder instead of the filament head?
The MDAC1 Gen2 is configured with the MD Filament Head. Pellet extrusion capability is available in the MDAC1 Gen2 XL (coming soon). Contact us about the broader MDAC1 and MDPE product lines for pellet-based applications today.

What are the MDAC1 Gen2 L and XL?
The MDAC1 Gen2 L expands the build area up to 1m² while using the same ABB GoFa 5 platform. The MDAC1 Gen2 XL (coming soon) is built around the larger ABB GoFa 10 with optional pellet extrusion for higher-throughput applications. Both are part of the same MDAC1 platform — you can grow into them without changing ecosystems.

Does this use the ABB Ultra Accuracy feature?
The GoFa CRB 15000 is Ultra Accuracy capable, delivering path accuracy to 0.03mm. If your application requires Ultra Accuracy, contact us to confirm the configuration before ordering.

Do you accept purchase orders?
Yes. Purchase orders can be submitted to contact@massivedimension.com. If you need Massive Dimension registered as a vendor in your system, send vendor forms and W9 requests to the same address.

What does my facility need before delivery?
Our team will walk through facility requirements — floor space, power, ventilation — during the post-order coordination call. Delivery will not be scheduled until your site is confirmed ready.

Customer Testimonials

★★★★★

There is a very distinctive design language and quality of construction across all Massive Dimension parts. This combined with the fact that all these components are compatible with each other is a big selling point.

Dr. D-Flo

David Florian, Ph.D.

★★★★★

“We purchased an MDPH02 to convert an already existing industrial filament machine. They came to install it and did a wonderful job. Like most projects of the sort there were some unexpected issues but they made quick work of them and left us with a functioning pellet extruder on a previously filament based machine. Their product is well designed, well made and looks great on our machine!"

Frédéric Letellier

★★★★★

Thanks to the considered design of Massive Dimensions extruders we can print parts in a wide range of materials, including up to 400°C, effortlessly and successfully.”
