Massive Dimension Launches
MDX10 LFAM Extruder
at RAPID + TCT 2026
A lighter, simpler, and more adaptable platform delivering higher feature resolution across robotic and gantry-based additive manufacturing.
Massive Dimension, a leader in large-format pellet extrusion systems for industrial additive manufacturing, today announced the launch of the MDX10 Extruder at RAPID + TCT in Boston. The MDX10 is a ground-up evolution of the proven MD-Series — lighter, simpler, and more adaptable, designed to expand where pellet extrusion can be deployed across robotic and gantry-based manufacturing systems.
A Ground-Up Evolution
Building on the proven MD-Series, the MDX10 delivers a lighter, simpler, and more adaptable system designed to expand where pellet extrusion can be deployed. With a 25% reduction in weight — 4 kg lighter than the MD10 — and a more compact architecture, the MDX10 expands compatibility to a wider range of lower-payload industrial robots and collaborative robots, enabling integrators to optimize costs around the application while maintaining the high productivity of pellet extrusion systems.
"The MDX is not just an iteration. It's a reset. We removed complexity and reduced weight to create a more capable and more adaptable extrusion system, built for where the market is going."
Tyler McNaney · Founder & CTO, Massive DimensionFull compatibility with major robotics software platforms further reduces integration effort and accelerates deployment across diverse manufacturing environments. To support a wide range of applications, the MDX10 offers multiple screw configurations, enabling processing of materials from PLA to high-performance polymers such as ULTEM and PEEK.
Simplified by Design. Built for Productivity.
The MDX10 introduces fundamentally simplified architecture with 40% fewer parts, reducing mechanical complexity, minimizing failure points, and improving long-term reliability and serviceability. The extruder provides easier access to all components, allowing faster troubleshooting and reducing downtime on the shop floor.
Performance Without Tradeoffs
The MDX10 delivers measurable improvements across every key performance dimension:
- −25% weight — enables smaller robotics and gantry systems, reducing total integration cost
- −40% fewer parts — simplified architecture minimizes failure points and improves long-term serviceability
- −10% power consumption — lower supply and running costs with improved melt control
- Improved nozzle clearance — more compact toolhead enables higher print feature detail and tighter geometries
- Servo-driven precision — integrated servo motor delivers repeatable material control for consistent bead geometry
- Upgraded heating system — 3-zone PID control to 450°C for improved melt stability and part quality
- 7 hot-swappable screw configurations — tune mixing and pressure for your specific polymer and layer strategy
These enhancements translate into significantly lower system and operating costs, while enabling high-resolution features, improved print quality, and higher productivity across a broader range of platforms and applications.
